Police arrest two during burglary

page3b_205PHILIPSBURG--Police dog handlers searched Sun Color Paint Building on Walter Nisbeth Road following a report of burglary at 2:00am on Monday, January 17. The dogs located two men still hiding in the premises.

The investigating officers saw that the suspects had gained access via a window on the West side of the building. They had used a cutting tool to remove the wire mesh from the window and then used a car jack to pry the steel bars from the wall.

The manager of the establishment was informed of the situation and came immediately to open the store so police could begin a search. Police dogs very swiftly located the culprits, who were attempting to hide from the officers.

The suspects are A.P.H., born in the Dominican Republic, and J.S. born in St. Maarten. A.P.H. had been employed by the company recently.

Money stolen from the establishment was found in possession of J.S. and was confiscated. Both suspects remain in custody for further investigation by the Detective Department.
