CA to decide whether to continue with Fonseka Writ hearing

The Court of Appeal today reserved the order on whether to continue hearing the Writ Application filed by former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka challenging his expulsion from Parliament after he was found guilty by a military court and jailed for 30 months.

The uncertainty over the continuation of the case arose after the Supreme Court ruled that the court martial is a competent court.

Romesh De Silva, PC, Counsel for Mr.Fonseka told Court that there are several other reasons for continuing the proceedings in spite of the SC ruling.

The case will be taken up again on February 25. The bench comprised Ranjith Silva, A.W.A.Salam and Upali Abeyratna.
