South West monsoon activates, heavy rains expected

The onset of the South West monsoon will bring heavy showers to Western, Sabargamuwa, Central provinces and Galle, Matara districts, forecasts the Meteorology Department.

Duty Meteorologist, Meril Perera said, rainy condition will prevail for�about two weeks.

"Rains are expected throughout the day, with some places receiving thundershowers as well. Floods and landslides are possible natural hazards during this period," he said.
