Department of New Works head Kurt Ruan said the general contractor MNO Vervat had been working around the clock for the past few days, connecting the main sewer line in Middle Region to the sewage line alongside Illidge Road leading to the sewage plant.
"Much appreciation gratitude goes out to MNO and its staff in having these works completed in a timely manner," Ruan said.
The work commenced on Monday and was scheduled to last one week. However, due to chaotic traffic conditions created by the closure, pressure was put on the contractor to finish the work earlier.
