Two cars catch afire, foul play suspected

page1a058PHILIPSBURG--Police suspect foul play in the burning of a Hyundai Tucson in the parking lot of the Central Bank in Philipsburg around 1:00am Sunday.

A Toyota Cressida parked next to the Tucson also caught on fire and the UTS building was damaged as a result of the suspected arson. Both cars were being used by casino workers.

The Fire Department doused the flames with reasonable ease. Luckily, neither vehicle's gas tank exploded. The Tucson that caught on fire first did not show any damage to its hood.

The Tucson was rented by a casino worker who learned when she left work that the vehicle had been damaged. She said she didn't have any enemies and kept to herself. She had no idea who would set her vehicle on fire.

Police have launched an investigation.
