In November 2011 - less than two years since its commission in December 2009 - Emirates Aluminium (EMAL), Al Taweelah smelter, achieved yet another major milestone: one million tonnes of hot metal produced. The average daily metal production since 2009 reaching 1,400 tonnes a day, the EMAL smelter shows no signs of slowing down. Current production stands at 2,035 tonnes of hot metal per day, strongly positioning EMAL to meet the projected increase in global aluminium demand.
