FAU industrial action put on hold

Flight attendants on the national carrier SriLankan Airlines have suspended their industrial action until further notice after the management promised to look to look into the issues raised by them.

A spokesperson for the Flight Attendants Union (FAU) said that the top management had held discussions with them, and assured that the issues raised would be settled without delay.

The management was worried about the matter being highlighted in the local media, and appealed to the FAU that the issues be settled amicably, he said.

The flight attendants had planned to sport white arm bands as the first step of their industrial action, to press home some 13 plus demands.

Among the demands was to put an immediate stop to the arrogance of the management and arbitrary transfers and dismissals of staff members without proper inquiries. (LB)
