Govt working with tight budget to fill vacancies

PHILIPSBURG--The building up of the country's infrastructure, in particular the personnel, is moving along with the seven ministries working to hire people where needed despite tight budgets.

Prime Minister Sarah Wescot-Williams told the press this week that a number of vacancies had been identified in the ministerial plans and the ministries were working "within the budgetary constraints to fill these."

The formal organisation of the ministries is in place, as established by the law on the organisation of government adopted in the final stages leading up to the attainment of country status within the Dutch Kingdom on October 10, 2010.

Wescot-Williams said, "Each ministry has its mission and vision. The placement of personnel is being finalised in terms of the resolutions that need to be signed off."

More than 1,000 laws regulating the positions of civil servants have to be signed off by the Council of Ministers. This is "a formality" in the process of placing personnel in the country start-up, a changeover from the structure of island territory of the Netherlands Antilles.
