Teenager throws acid in his caregiver?s face

MIDDLE REGION--A nineteen-year-old Dominican reportedly threw acid in his step-uncle's face after he was denied money to go out over the weekend.

The incident took place at their Middle Region home around 11:00pm Saturday.

The man had employed and cared for the teenager for a little more than a year.

The boy had concealed a cup of heavy-duty tile cleaner during the conversation with his step-uncle and reportedly threw the acid at him when he was told that his aunt had his money for safekeeping.

The teenager has since run away from home and his uncle has filed an official complaint with the Detective Department. The victim currently suffers from clouded vision and breathing problems from the acid that entered his nasal passages.

He told The Daily Herald, "I cared for him, fed him, put shelter over his head. I was trying to make him into a man and show him what life is about. I took him in from his family in Dominica who had trouble with him before. I just wanted to show him how to be respectful and responsible."
