POINTE BLANCHE--A second prison guard ? a woman - was arrested Thursday morning in connection with the embezzling of US $1,232 dollars from the Pointe Blanche prison. She is currently undergoing intense questioning.
Another prison guard suspected in the same case was released on Tuesday. Both guards are under investigation for stealing the cash that was issued by the prison as compensation for labour on a prisoner's release date in May.
The money owed to the prisoner was removed from an envelope and replaced with paper to make it appear as though the envelope contained cash.
Only prison employees have access to the room where the envelope was kept.
