Twenty nominated for Chamber board

~ Election set for December 2 ~

 

PHILIPSBURG--Twenty persons have been nominated for the vacant positions on the board of the St. Maarten Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

  Nomination period ended on Tuesday, November 15. There are two vacancies on the Chamber board for representatives of the small business sector and one vacancy for the large business sector.

  Thirteen persons were nominated for the two openings for representatives for the small business sector while seven were nominated to fill the lone vacancy for the large sector.

  In a press release issued on Tuesday evening, the Chamber said after screening of the nominations by Election Committee members Franklin Brison, Julian Lynch, Charles Benders and Myrna Lynch, nine of the nomination forms were returned to the nominators for revision of shortcomings/defaults. The deadline for re-submission is Friday, November 18, at 12 noon.

  Since the number of candidates exceeded the vacancies for both sectors elections will be held on December 2, from 9:00am until 12 noon.

  The chamber has advised voters to pick up their voting cards at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry office from Monday, November 21. These cards will be exchanged for a ballot on Election Day.
