PHILIPSBURG--Motorists already frustrated about the traffic moving at a snail's pace will have more to be upset about when the price for a litre of unleaded gasoline increases by 12 guilder cents tomorrow, Friday; moving from the current price of NAf 1.25 per litre to NAf 2.37 per litre.
The Ministry of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transportation and Telecommunication announced price increases on Wednesday two days ahead of the price change and one day before the Royal Visit of Queen Beatrix, Crown Prince Willem-Alexander and Princess Maxima to the country.
The price for diesel will also be increased as of Friday. Diesel will cost four guilder cents more per litre. The new price will be NAf 2.09, up from NAf 2.05 ? the price that was set on October 9, when prices were decreased by government.
Although the prices for unleaded gasoline and diesel will increase, they are still below the pre-October 9 levels. Before the decrease in prices on that day, a litre of unleaded gasoline cost NAf 2.42 and diesel was NAf 2.12 per litre.
