The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, the leading Sunni institution in the Muslim world, on Friday called on Arab leaders to take action to stop the violence in Syria where the regime have been suppressing protests for the past 10 months. "The Arab leaders must take serious and immediate action to stop the bloodshed of the Syrians (...) and prevent foreign intervention in an Arab land, "said Ahmed al-Tayyeb, head of the famous theological institution based in Cairo.
His call comes as at least 15 people killed in Friday's demonstrations.
